Feeding Your Fish Live Baby Brine Shrimp?

Live baby brine shrimp, also known as Artemia have been used by fish breeders for many years to promote fast fry growth and health. Live Artemia contain very high levels of protein and their tiny size makes them the perfect live food fish fry. They also make a great food for small adult species such as Rasboras, Celestial Pearl Danios pleco fry who prefer to eat food that’s suspended in the water column.

Baby brine shrimp are a great food for fish fry, They promote very rapid growth and survival rate.

And one of the benefits of feeding your fish baby brine shrimp is you can’t really over feed them because they won’t make your water cloudy and merky like wafers and left over fish flakes.. your fish can eat them as they like and when they like.

Warmer water will increase the speed with which the eggs hatch. We have found a temperature of around 25°C to be optimal. However this is not essential as the eggs will still hatch at lower temperatures but the process may take a little longer..

The eggs should be kept cool and protected from light before use. Keeping them in a fridge will prolong their shelf life considerably but it is best to keep some at room temperature for a few days before use. Most importantly, they must be kept in an air tight container as they will quickly degrade when exposed to air.

How often should I feed my fish baby brine shrimp?

Feed your brine shrimps no more than twice a day, ideally while it is still light. As they grow bigger, you may be able to increase the amount of food slightly without fouling the water.

Don’t forget that Nitrate, Nitrite are two different things, and that chlorine should be removed from the water before adding to your fish tank.
